Stykkishólmur 65.0754° N, 22.7297° W. Iceland has kept UTC+0 all year since 1968, so clock time in April 1986 is UTC with no summer-time correction.
The administrative record describes delivery. Its ± accuracy defines the delivery window; a possible delay to first breath is added forward in time. Leave the recorded time blank to clear it.
Topocentric positions include observer parallax for real bodies; lunar nodes and Lilith retain their geocentric definitions. Undefined houses use the selected fallback, with a visible warning.
Five Ptolemaic aspects, 5–8° orbs, +2° when the Sun or Moon is involved. Applies to the wheel, aspect table and statement coverage; life-event scoring keeps its own 1° orbs.
Lilith: the mean and osculating apogees are about 22° apart on this date; neither is "the" Lilith, so the choice is shown
wherever Lilith appears. DUT1 defaults to the IERS value for 1986-04-29 (+0.139 s), worth about half an arcminute of
Ascendant here; for other dates it is 0 unless you enter it. A peaked prior changes every percentage on this page, never the
boundaries.
At 65° N, Placidus and Koch are valid but severely distorted; the polar limit is 66.56°. Whole Sign and Equal are the
stable comparison. Switch systems and watch which planets change house: those are the readings you cannot trust to the
system choice alone.

Selected-instant interpretation. Essential scores use traditional rulers, the selected dorothean primary triplicity ruler, egyptian bounds and Chaldean faces. Participating/co-rulers are not scored. Domicile +5, exaltation +4, triplicity +3, term +2, face +1; detriment −5, fall −4 and peregrine −5. Accidental scores here measure house strength only; motion, combustion and other accidental factors are not included.
This convention sums positive rulership points at Sun, Moon, ASC, Fortune and prenatal syzygy, then adds al-Biruni house weights (12, 4, 5, 9, 7, 2, 10, 3, 6, 11, 8, 1), planetary day +7 and hour +6. It differs from each planet's own dignity score above. Equal totals remain ties; essential score and Chaldean order only sort the table.

Robust statements need no rectification. Spend the effort on the time-sensitive ones whose outcome you could actually
recognise in a life. Probabilities are shares of the prior (uniform over the window), not evidence for any time.

Rising-sign evidence
The time prior says where the Ascendant could be. These questions add soft evidence about where it is. Each answer multiplies the odds of the signs it favours by 2.5; the model is deliberately mild so a single
answer never overturns a strong prior. Answer only what you are sure of; skip the rest.
Prior: uniform over the window, shared with the Ascendant estimate and window statements.

Life events against the angles
Compare candidate times using selected astrological techniques: outer-planet transits to natal angles and
solar-arc directed angles to natal planets, within a 1° orb. Exact-date events use noon UTC.
Scores are heuristic comparisons, not statistically validated birth-time probabilities.
Date ranges are retained as evidence without scoring a fabricated midpoint; confidence records the quality
of your event information and does not change the score.
Transit weights: Pluto 1.3; Uranus and Neptune 1.2; Saturn 1; Jupiter 0.5. Solar-arc hits: 1 each. Hits involving the whole-sign lord of the event year receive a 1.5× heuristic weight.
No events yet. Dates are stored in this browser only.
What this time implies Chart ruler, angular planets, sect and sign balance
What this time implies
Chart ruler: Mercury in Aries, 12th house holds 34% of window
Gemini rises, so Mercury rules the chart. Mercury in the 12th house points the whole chart at solitude, the unconscious, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing. In rectification the ruler's house is a strong test: does your life actually centre there?
The Moon on the Midheaven holds 20% of window
The Moon sits 7.2° past the Midheaven. Angular planets dominate a chart, and this one is time-dependent: a few minutes either way moves it on or off the angle. The Moon on the Midheaven ties your reputation and vocation to its nature; it is what you become known for.
Venus on the Ascendant holds 5% of window
Venus sits 3.5° before the Ascendant. Angular planets dominate a chart, and this one is time-dependent: a few minutes either way moves it on or off the angle. Venus on the Ascendant stamps your appearance and manner with its nature and makes it the first thing people meet.
Mars on the Midheaven holds 19% of window
Mars sits 7.9° past the Midheaven. Angular planets dominate a chart, and this one is time-dependent: a few minutes either way moves it on or off the angle. Mars on the Midheaven ties your reputation and vocation to its nature; it is what you become known for.
Saturn on the Descendant holds 4% of window
Saturn sits 1.9° past the Descendant. Angular planets dominate a chart, and this one is time-dependent: a few minutes either way moves it on or off the angle. Saturn on the Descendant is met in partners and opponents; you attract its nature in others.
Neptune on the Midheaven holds 19% of window
Neptune sits 0.9° before the Midheaven. Angular planets dominate a chart, and this one is time-dependent: a few minutes either way moves it on or off the angle. Neptune on the Midheaven ties your reputation and vocation to its nature; it is what you become known for.
Day birth: Sun above the horizon holds 60% of window
The Sun is above the ecliptic horizon (12th house in this house system). In traditional astrology this makes the Sun the sect light: the chart is diurnal, and Saturn and Jupiter are the more constructive planets while Mars is the troublemaker.
The Moon conjunct Mars (0.6°) holds 20% of window
A tight conjunction in Capricorn, 10th house. These two functions are fused for life and will be experienced as one thing. Moon–Mars: feelings arrive as impulses to act. Quick temper, quick recovery, courage under emotional pressure, and a body that needs to move to process mood. It does not switch off. The Moon is in detriment here; Mars is in exaltation here: the fused function works harder than it looks.
Stellium in Capricorn whole window
The Moon, Mars, Neptune all fall in Capricorn. The chart leans hard on this sign’s manner: strategically and patiently, accepting responsibility and climbing by steps.
Balance: earth and cardinal dominate holds 34% of window
Elements — earth 4, fire 3, water 2, air 1. Modalities — cardinal 4, mutable 4, fixed 2. (Ten planets counted; the Ascendant adds air and mutable.)
Essential dignity whole window
Strong: Mars in Capricorn (exalted), Jupiter in Pisces (domicile), Pluto in Scorpio (domicile). Weak: The Moon in Capricorn (detriment). Dignified planets act with their own resources; debilitated ones work harder for the same result, which often makes them the more conspicuous theme in a life.
Retrograde planets express inwardly first. With three or more, a reflective, late-blooming quality runs through the whole chart.
Moon in Capricorn, 10th house holds 20% of window
The Moon moves about half a degree per hour, so its sign is stable across your window but its house is not. Emotional needs are met strategically and patiently, accepting responsibility and climbing by steps, and they play out in career, public standing, authority and your life’s visible work.

Fixed stars
Six catalogue stars · 1° zodiacal longitude orb. A longitude conjunction can occur even when a star is far from a planet in the sky.
Interpretive prompts, not astronomical measurements or predictions. A selected-time conjunction may change across the birth window.
Catalogue and precision
ESA Hipparcos 1997, ICRS coordinates at epoch J1991.25. Includes linear proper motion, precession, nutation and annual aberration. Omits stellar parallax, binary motion, perspective acceleration and solar light bending; use a one-arcminute working tolerance. Stellar positions use the geocentric observer; diurnal stellar parallax is negligible at this tolerance.
Analytical signature
Symbolic conventions at this candidate time. Ten planets count equally in the element and modality balance.
fire 3 · earth 4 · air 1 · water 2 cardinal 4 · fixed 2 · mutable 4
Eros uses Valens: ASC + Spirit − Fortune by day. In sect mode, each night reversal follows its checkbox above; diurnal-only mode uses day formulas throughout.
Aspect patterns
Intervals use 15-second brackets refined to 0.5 seconds; appearances shorter than a bracket may be missed.
Conjunction clusters within 3° count as one vertex; a cluster of three or more is shown as a stellium. Pattern orbs: 7° trine/opposition, 6° square, 5° sextile, 2.5° quincunx.

Houses — Placidus
♊ Gemini rising · 06°29′ Gemini
A Gemini Ascendant leads with the mind and the mouth. First impressions are of quickness, wit and a certain unpinnable quality: you can argue either side and often do. Mercury rules the chart, so its sign and house show where your attention actually lands. You stay young-looking and nervous-energetic, and you need movement and conversation the way others need food. The weak points are nerves, lungs and hands.
♑ Capricorn Midheaven · 06°34′ Capricorn
A career of structure and authority: management, administration, architecture, law, anything with a ladder. You arrive late and stay.
1Self and Body angular♊ 06°29′ Gemini16.4° wide⚸
The house of the horizon: how you begin anything, how you look, how your body carries you and what people assume about you before you speak. Its cusp is the Ascendant, the single most time-sensitive point in the chart, which is why rectification lives here.
Gemini on the cusp of the first house: your body, temperament and the face you show the world is approached by talking it through, collecting information and keeping two options open. Its ruler, Mercury, shows where this part of life is actually decided.
⚸ Lilith in the first house: you refuse to be domesticated through your body, temperament and the face you show the world, and you do it in a Gemini way, by talking it through, collecting information and keeping two options open. Mean Lilith marks where you will not compromise, and where that has cost you.
2Resources and Values succedent♊ 22°51′ Gemini7.3° wide
What you own and what you can do that earns a living. It describes your relationship to material security, your attitude to spending and saving, and the innate talents you can trade on.
Gemini on the cusp of the second house: money, possessions, skills and what you consider worth having is approached by talking it through, collecting information and keeping two options open. Its ruler, Mercury, shows where this part of life is actually decided.
No planets here. The house is read through its ruler, Mercury.
3Mind and Neighbourhood cadent♋ 00°07′ Cancer6.4° wide
The practical mind: how you write, talk, learn and get around. Siblings, cousins, neighbours and schooling live here, along with the texture of daily movement.
Cancer on the cusp of the third house: everyday thinking, speech, siblings and local life is approached protectively and indirectly, feeling your way in and holding on once attached. Its ruler, The Moon, shows where this part of life is actually decided.
No planets here. The house is read through its ruler, The Moon.
4Home and Roots angular♋ 06°34′ Cancer8.1° wide
The bottom of the chart: where you come from and where you retreat to. Parents, inherited patterns, the physical home and the conditions of late life all belong to the fourth house. Its cusp is the Imum Coeli.
Cancer on the cusp of the fourth house: home, family of origin, ancestry and your private foundation is approached protectively and indirectly, feeling your way in and holding on once attached. Its ruler, The Moon, shows where this part of life is actually decided.
No planets here. The house is read through its ruler, The Moon.
5Creation and Pleasure succedent♋ 14°37′ Cancer15.8° wide
What you make for the pleasure of making it: art, children, love affairs, games and gambles. The fifth describes how you express yourself when nobody is paying you to.
Cancer on the cusp of the fifth house: creativity, romance, play, children and risk taken for joy is approached protectively and indirectly, feeling your way in and holding on once attached. Its ruler, The Moon, shows where this part of life is actually decided.

6Work and Health cadent♌ 00°24′ Leo126.1° wide♇ ☋
The house of maintenance: the job as opposed to the career, the body as something to be looked after, the skills honed by repetition. It shows where you are useful and where stress collects.
Leo on the cusp of the sixth house: daily work, routines, health habits and service is approached with warmth and theatre, needing to be seen doing it well. Its ruler, The Sun, shows where this part of life is actually decided.
♇ Pluto in the sixth house: you go all the way down, confront what is buried and be remade through daily work, routines, health habits and service, and you do it in a Scorpio way, intensely and privately, probing for what is hidden and refusing to let go. Intensity, control issues and genuine regeneration concentrate in this area. Retrograde: the expression is internalised and reviewed rather than acted out directly; it matures with age.
☋ The South Node in the sixth house: you fall back on what already comes easily through daily work, routines, health habits and service, and you do it in a Libra way, through other people, weighing both sides and seeking the fair and beautiful solution. The South Node marks accumulated competence that can become a rut.
The Descendant: whoever stands opposite you. Spouses, business partners, clients and declared adversaries. It describes what you seek in another and what you meet there that you do not recognise as your own.

12Solitude and the Hidden cadent♒ 00°24′ Aquarius126.1° wide☉ ☿ ♀ ♃ ☊
The house just above the eastern horizon: what has risen but is not yet visible to you. Dreams, confinement, hospitals and monasteries, service without credit, and the ways you quietly work against yourself. Planets here are strong but operate behind the scenes.
Aquarius on the cusp of the twelfth house: solitude, the unconscious, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing is approached on principle and at a distance, reforming the system rather than joining it. Its ruler, Saturn (modern: Uranus), shows where this part of life is actually decided.
☉ The Sun in the twelfth house: you seek to be yourself and to shine through solitude, the unconscious, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing, and you do it in a Taurus way, slowly and materially, building something that lasts and resisting anyone who hurries you. This is where your sense of purpose is fed and where you want to be recognised.
☿ Mercury in the twelfth house: you think, talk, learn and make connections through solitude, the unconscious, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing, and you do it in a Aries way, head-first, acting before deliberating and learning by collision. This is the subject your mind keeps returning to and the field where you are most articulate.
♀ Venus in the twelfth house: you seek beauty, affection and ease through solitude, the unconscious, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing, and you do it in a Gemini way, by talking it through, collecting information and keeping two options open. What you love, what you find beautiful and how you attract are shaped by this area.
♃ Jupiter in the twelfth house: you expand, take risks and expect good fortune through solitude, the unconscious, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing, and you do it in a Pisces way, by absorbing and imagining, dissolving boundaries and trusting intuition over procedure. Opportunity and confidence come easily here, and so does excess.
☊ The North Node in the twelfth house: you are pulled toward unfamiliar development through solitude, the unconscious, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing, and you do it in a Aries way, head-first, acting before deliberating and learning by collision. The North Node marks the terrain you are meant to grow into, uncomfortably at first.
Delivery or first breath: which instant is the nativity?
The chart is cast for the first independent breath. The delivery instant is kept as a second anchor because, for a birth that needed resuscitation, it records the crisis the body went through, and because the two instants are close enough that comparing them costs nothing.
The convention and where it comes from
Ptolemy (Tetrabiblos III.2) argues that the nativity, not conception, is the proper origin of the chart, because it is the moment the child becomes a separate being subject to its own environment. Later tradition and nearly all modern practice read that separation as the first independent breath: before it the infant is physiologically the mother’s, after it the lungs have taken over and the child is on its own clock. Rectification manuals, hospital-record astrologers and the major software all assume this when they say "time of birth". A pulseless delivery with a nuchal cord makes the two instants visibly different, which is unusual, but it does not change the rule. If you were recorded as born at the delivery and breathing began some minutes later, the astrological birth is the later time.
Why keep the delivery instant at all
Two reasons. First, it is probably what any record says: midwives log the time the body emerged. Knowing the delay lets you convert a recorded delivery time into a chart time instead of guessing. Second, a minority of rectification practice treats the delivery moment as a chart of the physical vehicle, reading Mars on an angle as the acute emergency and Saturn as the constriction. That is interpretation, not doctrine, but the comparison is free, so the tool draws both instants and reports the Ascendant shift between them.
What this particular chart says about the birth
The pieces that fit the story do so without any help from the birth time. The Sun is in Taurus, the sign that rules the throat and neck; the Moon is tightly conjunct Mars in Capricorn, a Saturn-ruled sign, which reads as constriction met with force; Saturn itself is retrograde in Sagittarius and Pluto sits in Scorpio, the sign of survival through crisis. None of those placements moves with the slider. What does move is which house they fall in and which of them touches an angle, and that is what the time-sensitive highlights track.
How to use the two anchors
Set the slider to the delivery time you have or remember, enter the delay before breathing began, and leave "use first breath" on. If the two instants give the same rising sign, the distinction is academic and you can rectify on the first-breath chart alone. If they straddle a sign boundary, the Ascendant estimate panel will say so, and the honest answer is that the record, not the slider, has to settle it. Stykkishólmur’s hospital journals went to Heilbrigðisstofnun Vesturlands; a sjúkraskrá request is the single most effective rectification step available to you.

Which instant counts. Choose delivery or a hypothesized first-breath time explicitly. A delay range widens the chart window forward from delivery; a record of first breath would instead need its delay subtracted to estimate delivery. These conventions are assumptions, not measured medical facts. At high latitude even a few minutes can change the rising sign; use the ghost angles and solved intervals to see the actual shift.
Ephemeris. Positions use the selected geocentric or topocentric perspective for physical bodies; nodes and Lilith remain geocentric orbital points. Longitudes are on the true ecliptic of date from the
astronomy-engine library. Reference checks found planetary errors below 1.5′ for 1900–2100; the Moon can reach about 2′ outside that range, and mean Lilith differs by up to 0.12°. Houses use true obliquity and apparent sidereal time. Chiron and four asteroids use a separate, date-bounded JPL Horizons table described above.
Why the bands are uneven. The ecliptic meets the horizon at different angles as Earth turns. The sign durations and current Ascendant speed are calculated for the selected location and date; they can change sharply at high latitude.
Hospital records beat all of this. Icelandic maternity journals record time of birth and Apgar scores.
Stykkishólmur's St. Franciskusspítali records passed to Heilbrigðisstofnun Vesturlands; a request for your own
sjúkraskrá will likely give the time to the minute and may note the resuscitation.
